WaveSetter is an electronic instrument based on ad-hoc re-synthesis with WaveSets as described by Trevor Wishart in his book Audible Design (pdf).

Through pressing a button, the last 2 seconds of life-played sound material (originating e.g. in acoustic sound sources captured with microphones) is analysed for zero-crossings and transiental peaks. Those transients are then assigned to pads of a capacity-based controller (a Manta).
