Being a bit disappointed with the outcome of the vibration experiment made last week, I thought of an alternative design for the table. Basically, it consists of several speakers that are hidden in damped chambers under the table surface. Only at some points, holes in the surface allow the sound to pass through. This is where people can attach the stethoscopes to amplify the sound and guide it to their ears.

This design, of course, has to be tested; though it has the obvious drawback that it (a) does not allow for arbitrary placement of the stethoscopes, and (b) no vibrational sounds. I don’t know if I like that, but it’s worth a try.
