Towards musical instruments for moments of solitude

24 February 2014

Designing musical instruments for moments of solitude means to focus on instruments designed to play for one’s own pleasure.

It refers to historical contexts such as the playing context of traditional Guqin practice and re-interprets it towards todays cultural environment.

It puts up the question whether music is made only for being perceived by an audience (other than the musician). Furthermore it invites to interpret music making as a means for reflection and thought catalysing.
