microworlds
— encounter small ecosystems
2019, 2023 — Till Bovermann
The surrounding of Kilpisjärvi is host to many microworlds — relatively small places with prominent features like rocks, ponds, or streams. They all have in common that they gather a comparably large variety of lifeforms around themselves, marking them as small ecosystems.
During residencies in 2019 (Ars-Bioarctica) and 2023 (Science Trail) at the Kilpisjärvi Biology Station, I identified such microworlds and spend considerable time with them.
